A month-long campaign will launch today by the Fiji Revenue & Customs Authority, which is targeting residential rental operators for tax compliance purposes.

Running from November 1-30, the campaign will ascertain if these operators are correctly reporting total income derived from rental properties.

“During this period, taxpayers can also come forward and seek assistance from any of our offices if they haven’t been declaring correct income,” FRCA chief executive, Visvanth Das, noted.

“FRCA is continuously improving its process and is creating an environment conducive to encouraging taxpayers to freely come forward and declare their income.”

In a public notice, taxpayers have been urged to take advantage of the campaign and voluntarily declare their rental income to avoid penalties, fines and tax charges on undeclared incomes.
